Woman allege Raleigh General Hospital physician failed to recognize stroke

Medical malpractice 01

BECKLEY – A patient alleges an emergency room physician failed to recognize the signs of a stroke.

Ashley Tilley filed a complaint Jan. 12 in Raleigh Circuit Court against Cordell R. Honrado MD alleging breach of the standard of care.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was under the defendant's care at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley on Oct. 13, 2015, when she went to the emergency room exhibiting signs of a stroke. She alleges she was diagnosed with an ear infection and sent home via ambulance.

The plaintiff holds Honrado responsible because the defendant allegedly breached his duty to use the degree of knowledge, skill and care ordinarily exercised by a health care provider by failing to do an MRI screening and by failing to recognize that she was having a stroke.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages, plus interest, costs of this action and all other relief that the court may deem appropriate. She is represented by Timothy P. Lupardus of Lupardus Law Office in Pineville. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Andrew Dimlich.
