Logan Regional patient alleges doctor didn't take action after EKG findings

Medical malpractice 04

LOGAN – A patient alleges his physician failed to take action after two abnormal electrocardiogram reports.

Larry Hatfield and Lolita Hatfield filed a complaint Jan. 22 in Logan Circuit Court against Subhash Chander Bhanot MD and Logan Regional Medical Center alleging breach of the standard of care.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that in 2014 and 2015, Bhanot performed cysto visual urethrotomies on Larry Hatfield. The suit states in preparation for both procedures, Bhanot ordered an electrocardiogram (EKG) on Hatfield and both times the EKG was abnormal.

The suit states after the 2015 procedure, Larry Hatfield suffered a heart attack.

The plaintiffs hold Bhanot and Logan Regional Medical Center responsible because Bhanot allegedly failed to inform Larry Hatfield of the abnormal EKG results and forward the results to Larry Hatfield's cardiologist or primary care physician.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendants in an amount sufficient to compensate them for all damages, costs and expenses and all other just and proper relief. They are represented by Robert H. Miller II of The Sutter Law Firm PLLC in Charleston. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Joshua Butcher.
