Woman files suit against Wheeling, others after slipping in parking garage

Slip02

WHEELING – A Moundsville woman alleges she was injured in a parking garage because of the presence of snow, ice or water.

Teresa Brisco filed a complaint on Jan. 10 in Ohio Circuit Court against city of Wheeling, Wheeling Municipal Parking Authority and Anthony Wayne Oil Corp. of W. VA. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 13, 2016, she was injured while walking to defendants' parking garage from Ohio Valley Medical Center when she slipped and fell on a foreign substance and landed on her backside.

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to keep and maintain the area safe and passable, failed to warn her and failed to exercise a duty of reasonable care.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of the court, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney's fees, costs and such other appropriate relief. She is represented by Gerasimos Sklavounakis of Sklavounakis Law Offices in Wheeling. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Ronald E. Wilson.
