Man claims Schlumberger Technology discriminated against him

MOUNDSVILLE – A Monongalia County resident alleges his ethnicity and faith were factors in his termination by a company doing business in the oil and gas industry.

Ahmed Al-Abouri filed a complaint Feb. 12 in Marshall Circuit Court against Schlumberger Technology Corp. alleging wrongful discharge.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff holds dual U.S. and Saudi citizenship, is ethnically Arab and practices Islam. The suit states he was hired by the defendant in August 2015 and was assigned to a well site in Pennsylvania. The suit states in April 2016, his hand was cut while working and he sought treatment at a local hospital, which generated a workers' compensation claim and incident report. He was terminated on May 2, 2016, because of the incident, the suit states.

The plaintiff holds Schlumberger Technology Corp. responsible the plaintiff claims he was terminated because of his Saudi Arabian ethnicity and Muslim faith.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks payment of lost wages, compensatory damages, general damages, court costs, interest, punitive damages and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by Edmund L. Wagoner and David E. Goddard of Goddard & Wagoner PLLC in Clarksburg. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge David W. Hummel Jr.
