BECKLEY – A New York traveler is suing a Beaver hotel over alleged injuries after slipping on ice.
Linda Bruce filed a complaint Feb. 12 in Raleigh Circuit Court against Laurel Lodge Enterprises Inc., doing business as Sleep Inn Beaver, alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 13, 2016, she and her family were at the defendant's premises to check in. She alleges she slipped and fell on ice as she exited her vehicle in front of the Sleep Inn's luggage ramp.
The plaintiff holds Laurel Lodge Enterprises Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to have taken precautions to guard against the formation of ice on walking surfaces.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for damages, interest, court costs and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by S. Brooks West II and Nathan J. Chill of West Law Firm LC in South Charleston. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Andrew Dimlich.
