PRINCETON – A Pennsylvania resident formerly employed by a West Virginia school district alleges she has lost employment opportunities because of the district's online posting of board meeting minutes.

Holly Ruskauff filed a complaint Feb. 14 in Mercer Circuit Court against Mercer County Board of Education alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was employed by the defendant as a speech teacher from 2011 to the end of the 2014-2015 academic year. The suit states she was suspended by the defendant during a board meeting and the reason was posted online as part of the meeting minutes. She alleges she has lost employment opportunities because of the posting.

The plaintiff holds Mercer County Board of Education responsible because the defendant allegedly breached its duty to maintain the confidentiality of the plaintiff's employment information.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount to compensate her for her damages, court costs, interest and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Scott H. Kaminski of Kaminski Law PLLC in Charleston. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Derek C. Swope.
