CHARLESTON – An Oak Hill woman alleges an improperly placed screw from a surgery caused her pain.
Lisa K. Bowles filed a complaint in Kanawha Circuit Court against Robert J. Crow Jr., MD, and Neurological Associates Inc. alleging medical professional liability.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 1, 2015, she underwent lumbar spine fusion performed by defendant Crow. Following the surgery, she alleges she immediately complained of severe pain and numbness in her right leg, which Crow dismissed.
The suit states the plaintiff learned in the summer of 2016 while at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio that a screw Crow implanted in her back was the direct cause of her pain and had surgery to remove it.
The plaintiff holds Crow and Neurological Associates Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to recognize an improperly placed screw and failed to respond her to complaints and symptoms.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of the jurisdictional limits of the court, attorney fees, costs and expenses and all other relief that is appropriate. She is represented by Brian J. Headley and Jason S. Ballard of Headley Ballard LLC. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Louis H. Bloom.
