BECKLEY — A Mount Hope husband and wife are suing Ford, alleging breach of warranty, design defect, liability, negligence and product liability.

Mitchell Barley and Teresa Barley filed a complaint March 6 in Raleigh Circuit Court against Ford Motor Company, alleging the defendant manufactured and sold a defective Ford Focus to the plaintiffs.

According to the complaint, in April 2013, the Barleys purchased a brand new Ford Focus for $20,800. The suit says the vehicle has several issues that could be life threatening.

The plaintiffs allege Ford Motor failed to repair or replace the Ford Focus purchased by the Barleys despite knowing its defective condition.

The Barleys seeks trial by jury, revocation of acceptance and refund of the purchase price, costs of repair, court costs and all further relief the court grants. They are represented by attorney Anthony M. Salvatore of Hewitt & Salvatore, PLLC in Fayetteville.
