PRINCETON — A  Bluefield man is suing two neighbors, alleging insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries to the plaintiff from a bee attack.

Wayne D. Meredith filed a complaint April 5 in Mercer Circuit Court against Dr. Bhasker Pujari and Kristen Pujari, alleging they violated Bluefield city ordinances by failing to properly maintain their property.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 2, 2016, Meredith was walking with his dog on the sidewalk by the defendants' property, 702 College Ave. Bluefield. The suit says he was stung by bees numerous times on his face and neck, and, when he attempted to escape, Meredith's feet became entangled with the vines and he fell.

The lawsuit states Meredith suffered injuries to his left knee and wrist and incurred medical expenses in excess of $64,000. The plaintiff alleges the Pujaris negligently allowed bushes, vines and shrubs to overgrow on their Bluefield property and onto the sidewalk, partially obstructing access to the public sidewalk.

Meredith seeks trial by jury, judgment to fully compensate him for injuries and damages as well as attorney fees and court costs. He is represented by attorney Kenneth E. Chittum of Bluefield.
