BECKLEY — A custodian is suing a Mount Hope Chevrolet dealership, alleging discrimination, sexual harassment and constructive eviction.
Betsy Shelton filed a complaint April 5 in Raleigh Circuit Court against Crossroads Chevrolet LLC, Rodney Lerose II and Jeffery Vass, alleging they violated the West Virginia Human Rights Act.
According to the complaint, Shelton began working at Crossroads Chevrolet in Mount Hope in May 2013. The suit says on Nov. 7, 2017, Shelton was constructively discharged from his employment. As a result, Shelton says, she has suffered lost wages and benefits, humiliation, emotional distress, pain and suffering and embarrassment.
The plaintiff alleges Crossroads Chevrolet, Lerose and Vass subjected her to unlawful discrimination, unwelcome remarks, persistent sexual harassment, an intimidating and offensive working environment and constructive termination.
Shelton seeks trial by jury, compensatory, general and punitive damages, costs of litigation, pre- and post-judgment interest, and all other legal and equitable relief. She is represented by attorney Robert P. Lorea of Lorea Law Office PLLC in Charleston.
