Former employee accuses Cross Lanes business of age discrimination

CHARLESTON — A Griffithsville man is suing a Cross Lanes business, alleging age discrimination, retaliation and wrongful termination.

Jeffrey L. Jarvis filed a complaint in Kanawha Circuit Court against Precision Pump & Valve Service Inc. alleging violation of the West Virginia Human Rights Act.

According to the complaint, Jarvis, who is nearly 60 years old, had worked for Precision Pump since October 1985, earning between $82,000 and $85,000 per year. On Dec. 10, 2017, the suit says, Jarvis was terminated from his employment due to alleged misconduct and insubordination. 

Jarvis says he has suffered lost wages and employment benefits, emotional distress, mental anguish, embarrassment and other general damages. The plaintiff alleges Precision Pump & Valve Service discriminated against Jarvis by subjecting him to an offensive working environment and by terminating his employment and replacing him with a substantially younger employee.

Jarvis seeks general and punitive damages, attorney fees, court costs and all other just and proper relief. He is represented by attorney John Einreinhofer of Law Offices of John Einreinhofer in Charleston.
