Mother, children allege negligent Rico Racing motorist caused crash

Car accident 14

WHEELING — A Moundsville mother and children are suing a motorist and vehicle owner, alleging negligence and negligent entrustment caused a vehicle crash.

Jennifer Rose Haught, in her own right and as natural parent and next friend of Skylar Rose Haught, a minor and Jordan Isaac Richards, a minor, filed a complaint April 18 in Ohio Circuit Court against Brian Lee Otto and Rico Racing LLC, alleging Rico negligently entrusted its Ford pick-up to Otto, a careless driver.

According to the complaint, on June 17, 2017, Jennifer Haught was driving a 2004 Ford Focus south on state Route 2 in South Collector and proceeded through a green light. The suit says Otto negligently drove Rico's Ford pick-up through a stoplight, violently colliding with Haught's vehicle.

Haught says she sustained serious and permanent injuries and suffered great pain of body and mind, medical expenses and lost wages. The suit says the Haught minor children lost the consortium and services of their mother.

The plaintiffs allege Otto failed to obey a traffic control device, failed to keep proper lookout and failed to yield right of way.

The Haughts seek trial by jury, judgment in excess of $25,000 and all other just and proper relief. They are represented by attorney Erika Klie Kolenich of Klie Law Offices in Buckhannon.
