FAYETTEVILLE – A former resident of a Fayette County health care facility alleges she was sexually assaulted by another resident while there.

Regina Adams, 85, filed a complaint in Fayette Circuit Court against 422 23rd Street Operations LLC, doing business as Hidden Valley Center, and Genesis Health Care LLC alleging violation of the Nursing Home Care Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 11, 2016, she was admitted to defendants' Hidden Valley Center for short-term rehabilitation. She alleges she was sexually assaulted by another resident while an employee of the defendants watched on Nov. 16, 2016.

The plaintiff holds 422 23rd Street Operations LLC and Genesis Health Care LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly breached their duties to provide adequate care, supervision and treatment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount as the jury may find reasonable, with interest, costs and such other just and proper relief. She is represented by Stephen P. New and Amanda J. Taylor of Stephen P. New, Attorney at Law in Beckley and Tammy Bowles Raines of Tammy Bowles Raines Law Office PLLC in Charleston.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Paul M. Blake Jr.
