CHARLESTON — Patrick Morrisey's U.S. Senate campaign has launched the Pro-Life Mountaineers for Patrick coalition.

There were more than 100 pro-life West Virginians already signed up to help with Morrisey's election bid to unseat Sen. Joe Mancin in November. State Sen. Patricia Rucker will serve as Pro-Life Mountaineers for Patrick coalition's chair.

The coalition already begun has weekly phone banks and regional meetings and will continue to support President Trump's nomination of Brett Kavanaugh for the U.S. Supreme Court.

Morrisey said the right to life is fundamental and must be cherished and protected. He said pro-life West Virginians will send a U.S. senator to Washington who shares that commitment to standing on the side of life.

National Right to Life President Carol Tobias endorsed Morrisey.

"National Right to Life is pleased to endorse Patrick Morrisey for the U.S. Senate," Tobias said in a statement provided to The West Virginia Record. "Patrick Morrisey’s position on life reflects the true values of West Virginia’s voters."

West Virginians for Life Political Action Committee also endorsed Morrisey in the Senate race.

"After decades of unborn babies receiving no protection from West Virginia’s attorney general, it is refreshing that Patrick Morrisey has stood firm on the side of life,”WVL-PAC President Dr. Wanda Franz said in a statement provided to The West Virginia Record. "We commend him for his outstanding record of commitment to the pro-life cause and feel he would make an excellent U.S. senator. It is important that voters recognize the stark difference between the two candidates."

Morrisey said Manchin has failed West Virginians by continuing to fund Planned Parenthood, standing with Hillary Clinton and opposing pro-life judges.

"I’m honored to earn the endorsement of such a strong group of West Virginians committed to standing up for life,” Morrisey said in a statement provided to The West Virginia Record. "This election is too important to send a U.S. senator to Washington who doesn’t share our commitment to the sanctity of life and to the protection of the unborn."
