CHARLESTON — A Lizemore woman is suing a Charleston medical facility, alleging negligence caused her to suffer injuries.

Maysel Marie Truman filed a complaint in Kanawha Circuit Court against Charleston Area Medical Center, alleging failure to provide a safe environment.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 25, 2017, Truman was visiting her husband at Charleston Area Medical Center. The suit says as her husband was being transferred from his hospital room, Truman tripped on a pallet in the hallway, causing her to fall to the floor.

Truman says she sustained injuries to her head, back and shoulder. The plaintiff alleges Charleston Area Medical Center negligently placed a pallet in the hallway, which posed a hazard to persons walking in the hall.

Truman seeks trial by jury, judgment in an amount sufficient to compensate for her injuries, plus costs. She is represented by attorney Edward G. Atkins of The Sutter Law Firm PLLC in Charleston.
