Bailey & Glasser LLP issued the following announcement on Aug. 17.
William Ihlenfeld of Bailey & Glasser’s Wheeling, West Virginia, office has been named to the 2018 Class of Lawyers & Leaders by the West Virginia University College of Law and West Virginia Executive Magazine.
The annual program celebrates elite lawyers in West Virginia, recognizing the accomplishment of those who have made a positive impact on the state and nation and who have dedicated their careers to serving others and making West Virginia and the United States better places to live.
The class of 2018 was honored at a reception on August 16 at the WVU College of Law.
Ihlenfeld served as the United States Attorney for the Northern District of West Virginia from 2010 until last year, when he returned to private practice. As U.S. Attorney, Ihlenfeld made combatting the opioid crisis a priority, creating an “Addiction Action Plan” and working collaboratively with community partners. He also was successful in obtaining federal enforcement resources for many of the counties in his district. As a result, more than a million dollars flows to northern West Virginia each year to combat the opioid crisis.
Ihlenfeld made prevention a priority, speaking to thousands of children in schools throughout his district about the dangers of drugs. His efforts received national recognition last year when he was honored by the Office of National Drug Control Policy.
In 2017, Ihlenfeld received the Outstanding Service in Law Enforcement Award from the FBI Citizens Academy Alumni Association for his distinguished record of law enforcement service.
Ihlenfeld is a graduate of the West Virginia University College of Law. He lives in Wheeling with his family.
