Kanawha County sheriff alleges contractor owes nearly $52,000

CHARLESTON — The Kanawha County sheriff is suing a contractor, alleging failure to pay taxes.

Michael Y. Rutherford, as sheriff and ex officio treasurer of Kanawha County, filed a complaint in Kanawha Circuit Court against K&N Contracting Inc., alleging the defendant has been delinquent in paying nearly $52,000 in taxes.

According to the complaint, as of July 9, K&N has delayed in paying taxes and fees on its real property for the tax year 2017 in the amount of $51,825.41. 

Rutherford seeks trial by jury, judgment of $51,825.41, post-judgment interest, court costs and all other just and proper relief. He is represented by attorney Spencer D. Elliot of Lewis Glasser PLLC in Charleston.
