Man blames implanted medical device for continuing injuries

HUNTINGTON — An implanted medical device was defective, a Huntington man claims in court.

Stryker Corporation and Howmedica Osteonics Corporation, interbody device distributors, citing alleged negligence.

Ronald Ferguson filed a complaint on July 24 in Cabell Circuit Court against Stryker Corporation and Howmedica Osteonics.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was implanted with a Stryker AccuLIF PL cages. After almost two years, the cage failed, the complaint states. The medical device was removed and the plaintiff continues to suffer severe back pain. 

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and punitive damages. He is represented by Paul E, Biser of Fredeking & Biser Law Offices in Huntington.
