MOUNDSVILLE — An Ohio woman is suing a Marshall County dental practitioner, alleging negligence.

Janet Patterson of Belmont County, Ohio, filed a complaint in Marshall Circuit Court against Dr. Charles Wylie, alleging the dentist breached professional standards of care and treatment.

According to the complaint, on July 12, 2016, Wylie performed a bite adjustment on Patterson without her knowledge or permission. The suit says Patterson experienced complications, pain, discomfort, emotional distress, loss of enjoyment, unnecessary future dental/medical expenses, and loss of income.

The plaintiff alleges Wylie deviated from applicable standards of care, and failed to obtain an informed consent before performing the procedure on Patterson.

Patterson seeks trial by jury, compensatory damages and all other appropriate relief. She is represented by attorneys David L. Delk Jr. and Jeffrey A. Grove of Grove & Delk PLLC in Wheeling.
