CHARLESTON — A former medical director is suing a Mason County health clinic, alleging failure to make payments for all wages due.

Dr. Louis Andrew Yancich of Kanawha County filed a complaint in Kanawha Circuit Court against New Life Clinics and clinics president James T. Bowen, alleging violation of the Wage Payment and Collection Act.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 22, 2015, the defendants contracted Yancich to serve as medical director for New Life Center Clinics. The suit said he would be paid $200 per hour for his services and $1,000 per week as medical director.

As a result of the defendants' actions, Yancich said he was financially harmed because he was paid only $40 for an established patient visit and $80 for a new patient visit. The suit says the defendants ceased paying $1,000 per week for Yancich's role as medical director and terminated his contract without providing the requisite 60 days notice and without cause.

Yancich seeks trial by jury, judgment to be determined at trial, attorney fees, court costs and any further just and appropriate relief. He is represented by attorney Travis A. Griffith of Griffith Law Center PLLC in Charleston.
