Motorist alleges tractor-trailer operators' negligence caused crash

PINEVILLE — A Wyoming County motorist tractor-trailer operators, alleging their negligence caused a crash that injured the plaintiff.

Sheila Lynn Shelton filed a complaint in Wyoming Circuit Court against Jeffrey P. Russell, Landstar Inway Inc., Landstar Ranger Inc., et al, alleging Russell failed to obey all driving laws and regulations.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 26, 2016, Shelton was stopped on state Route 10 in or near Herndon. The suit says, Russell, a driver for the defendants negligently operated a tractor-trailer, which was hauling a bulldozer with a large blade, and caused the bulldozer's blade to strike Shelton's vehicle. 

Shelton alleges she sustained injuries to her body and mind, for which she has and will continue to experience, pain and suffering, medical expenses and physical limitations. 

The plaintiff alleges Russell failed to operate the tractor-trailer in a safe and proper manner and failed to control his speed to avoid colliding with Shelton's vehicle.

Shelton seeks trial by jury, compensatory and punitive damages, plus interest, attorney fees, court costs and all other just and appropriate relief. She is represented by attorneys Robert D. Cline Jr. and Brian E. Bigelow of Farmer, Cline & Campbell PLLC in Beckley.
