ELKINS — A South Carolina couple is suing Precision Pipeline and various entities, citing alleged negligence.

Leonardo DeJesus and Teresa DeJesus filed a complaint in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia Elkins Division alleging the defendants failed to comply with industry safety and workplace standards, rules and regulations.

The couple alleges that on Aug. 22, Leonardo DeJesus was injured when a pallet of matting weighing approximately 2,500 pounds fell off a trailer and violently smashed into him.

He sustained serious injuries, including but not limited to traumatic brain injury, compression fracture, broken right thumb and wrist injury. The plaintiffs hold Precision Pipeline responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide a safe workplace and failed to enforce safe procedures in off-loading cargo.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek compensatory and punitive damages, costs, attorney's fees, interest and such other and further relief.

They are represented by D. Blake Carter Jr. and Ryan J. Stewart of Bailey Javins & Carter LC in Charleston.
