WINFIELD — A Scott Depot woman is suing Kroger, alleging negligence led to injuries to the plaintiff.

Virginia May filed a complaint in Putnam Circuit Court against The Kroger Co. and Kroger Limited Partnership I, alleging failure to keep the store premises reasonably safe for invitees.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 14, 2016, May was shopping at the Kroger store in Scott Depot when a Kroger employee slammed his flatbed into May, pinning her between her shopping cart and the freezer. She says has suffered physical and mental injuries and medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Kroger failed to properly train and supervise employees on how to safely transport merchandise throughout the store and failed to give adequate warning of such a danger.

May seeks trial by jury, compensatory damages, with interest, court costs and all other relief. She is represented by attorney David M. Adkins of The Adkins Law Firm PLLC in Hurricane.
