CHARLESTON — A daughter is suing Charleston health care providers, alleging negligence led to the death of her mother.

Tondrea Davis Powell, administrator of the estate of Anna Mae Davis, filed a complaint in Kanawha Circuit Court against Charleston Area Medical Center Inc. and Dr. Cynthia Elizabeth Collins, alleging the health care providers negligently deviated from the applicable standards of medical care.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 22, 2016, Anna Mae Davis came to Charleston Medical Center with complaints of shortness of breath. As a result of the defendants' carelessness, the suit says, Davis was forced to endure physical and mental pain and was caused to suffer a full cardiac arrest, dying Sept. 24, 2016.

The plaintiff alleges Charleston Area Medical Center and Collins failed to timely treat the decedent's cardiac symptoms and negligently failed to perform cardiac catherization.

Davis Powell seeks trial by jury, compensatory and economic damages, interest, costs, attorney fees and all other just relief. She is represented by attorneys Woody A. Trent, Richard D. Lindsay and Dr. Richard D. Lindsay of Tabor Lindsay & Associates in Charleston.
