Town of Belle accuses business owners of ordinance violation

CHARLESTON — A Kanawha County town is suing an auto detailing shop, alleging failure to pay business and occupation taxes.

The town of Belle filed a complaint in Kanawha Circuit Court against Arthur Elken and Polly Meadows, doing business as Art's Auto Detailing Shop LLC, alleging violation of the town's municipal code.

According to the complaint, the town will incur substantial costs and expenses to correct the defendants' violations or to abate the continuing public nuisance to the Belle community. The plaintiff alleges Art's Auto Detailing Shop is currently operating a business referred at 710 DuPont Ave., Belle without a valid business license.

The town of Belle seeks trial by jury, an order temporarily enjoining the defendants from engaging in further business activity until its business comes into and under strict compliance will all of the plaintiff's ordinances and all other just and proper relief. It is represented by attorney Raymond Keener III of Charleston.
