WHEELING — Two Valley Grove homeowners are suing State Farm, alleging breach of an insurance contract.

William and Margaret Patterson filed a complaint Sept. 28 in Ohio Circuit Court against State Farm Fire and Casualty Company, alleging failure to perform under the terms of the policy.

According to the complaint, on July 10, 2017, the Pattersons discovered property damage to their insured residence at 9875 National Road, Valley Grove. The plaintiffs say they timely filed a claim under the State Farm homeowners' insurance policy.

The plaintiffs allege State Farm Fire and Casualty has denied the Pattersons' claim for property damage without conducting a reasonable investigation.

The Pattersons seek trial by jury, all damages, attorney fees, interest and court costs. They are represented by attorneys James G. Bordas III and Erica A. Cross of Bordas & Bordas PLLC in Wheeling.
