BECKLEY — A Beckley woman is suing a heating and cooling contractor and landlords, alleging failure to warn and negligence about a hole in the plaintiff's bedroom floor.

Brittany E. Davis filed a complaint in Raleigh Circuit Court against Meadows Heating & Cooling Inc., Kenneth Blake and Drema Blake, alleging they failed to exercise due care and caution in installing the HVAC system.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 14, 2017, Davis was injured in her Beckley bedroom at when she fell violently through an opening in the floor. The suit says Davis sustained pain, suffering, mental anguish, emotional distress, medical expenses and lost wages.

The plaintiff alleges Meadows Heating & Cooling and the Blakes negligently left an opening in Davis' bedroom floor without informing her that they had removed the metal grate and left the lights left off.

Davis seeks trial by jury, compensatory and punitive damages, interest, court costs, fees and all other appropriate relief. She is represented by attorneys Marvin W. Masters and Roger A. Decanio of The Masters Law Firm LC in Charleston.
