BECKLEY — A Beckley couple is suing general contractors, alleging breach of warranty and negligence.

Donald Grillot and Dewana Waters-Grillot filed a complaint in Raleigh Circuit Court against Lewis and Ark Builders LLC, April Lewis and Ray King, alleging they performed shoddy work in a remodeling project involving the plaintiffs' home.

According to the complaint, in April 2016 the defendants remodeled the upstairs bathroom in the Grillot residence, 36 Avocet Way, Beckley, for $24,000. Shortly after the Grillots said they discovered leaking issues and other problems with the defendants' work.

As a result of the defendants' failure to remediate the problems, the suit says, the Grillots were forced to hire a new contractor and spend additional costs to repair the damages. The plaintiffs allege the defendants refused to inspect or repair the property.

The Grillots seek trial by jury, compensatory and punitive damages, with interest, court costs and attorney fess. They are represented by attorney Christopher Lefler of Lefler Law Office in Beckley.
