CHARLESTON — An East Bank couple is suing a dairy company, alleging an unsafe work environment that led to the husband suffering injuries.
Jason Adkins and Dreama Adkins filed a complaint in Kanawha Circuit Court against United Dairy Inc. alleging failure to ensure that the equipment at the plant was maintained in a safe operating condition.
According to the complaint, on Oct. 8, 2016, Jason Adkins, a maintenance engineer at United Dairy, was operating a bossy cart machine when it crushed his right hand. The suit says Adkins has suffered great pain and anguish, medical expenses, lost wages and disfigurement. Dreama Adkins says she was deprived of her husband's service and consortium.
The plaintiffs allege United Dairy failed to provide safe equipment and proper training.
The Adkinses seek trial by jury, fair and adequate damages, attorney fees, court costs, interest and all other just relief. They are represented by attorney Brian L. Ooten of Shaffer & Shaffer PLLC in Madison.
