NEW CUMBERLAND — Storage facility owners are suing Jerry Kopyar d/b/a Doors Unlimited Inc., water heater contractors, citing alleged negligence.

Daniel Spanovich and Linda Spanovich d/b/a D&L Rentals/Storage filed a complaint in Hancock Circuit Court against the defendants alleging that they negligently installed the hot water tank at plaintiffs' storage facility.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on April 18, 2016, plaintiffs' tenant hired defendants to install a new water heater at plaintiffs' facility. On Nov. 7, 2016, due to defective installation, the hot water tank broke, causing significant damage to plaintiffs' and their tenants' property in the amount of approximately $90,000. The plaintiffs hold Jerry Kopyar and Doors Unlimited Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to follow the installation manual recommendations to use 1/2" copper or high pressure flex connection.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek all damages, with interest, costs and attorney's fees. They are represented by James J. Sellitti of Sellitti, Nogay & McCune PLLC in Weirton.
