Man accuses Hancock County officials of malicious prosecution

NEW CUMBERLAND — A man is suing the Hancock County Commission and a sheriff's deputy, citing alleged negligence.

Roger L. Rowland filed a complaint in Hancock Circuit Court against the Hancock County Commission and Patrick Jay Hoder alleging malicious prosecution and bad faith.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was arrested was required to post bail two times on similar charges of obstructing an officer. He was caused to lost his right to possess a weapon. Said criminal charge against him was dismissed. The plaintiff holds Hancock County Commission and Hoder responsible because the defendant allegedly negligently refiled the same exact charge with the exact same statement of fact as in the prior criminal complaint.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and punitive damages, with interest, fees and costs. He is represented by Lawrence Manypenny of Lawrence Manypenny, Attorney at Law in New Cumberland.
