WAYNE — A Wayne County man is suing Tractor Supply Co. after falling in the parking lot of the chain's Lavalette location.

Jerry Maynard filed a complaint in Wayne Circuit Court against Tractor Supply and Unifirst Corporation alleging that they failed to maintain their store premises in a reasonably safe condition.

According to the complaint, Maynard alleges that in Nov. 16, 2016, he was a patron at the defendants' store in Lavalette when he fell over a rug, causing him to violently strike the asphalt parking lot. He sustained serious personal injuries resulting in pain, mental anguish, lost wages, diminished capacity to enjoy life and inconvenience. The plaintiff holds Tractor Supply and Unifirst Corporation responsible because they allegedly failed to inspect their premises to discover dangerous conditions and to make them safe, and failed to warn the general public of the existing danger.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants, jointly and severally, in an amount that will adequately compensate him costs, attorney's fees and such other just and appropriate relief. He is represented by Kenneth P. Hicks of Kenneth P. Hicks LC in Huntington.
