CHARLESTON — A Kanawha County couple is suing a premises controller, citing alleged negligence.

Rita and Curtis Brock filed a complaint in Kanawha Circuit Court against The Father's House Community Development Corp. Inc. alleging that it failed to maintain its premises free from unsafe conditions.

According to the complaint, the Brocks allege that on Dec. 14, 2016, Rita Brock was exiting the defendant's premises when she fell off the ramp in the middle of the stairs. She sustained severe and permanent injuries and incurred damages. Curtis Brock suffered loss of consortium. The plaintiffs hold The Father's House Community Development Corp. Inc. responsible because it allegedly failed to properly design, repair and maintain the stairs/ramp to prevent such falls.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek compensatory damages, costs, attorney's fees and such other and further relief deemed just. They are represented by Michael J. Del Giudice of Ciccarello, Del Giudice & Lafon in Charleston.
