HUNTINGTON — A surviving spouse is suing health care providers, citing alleged negligence.

Robert Pine, individually and as administrator of the estate of Sharon Pine, filed a complaint in Cabell Circuit Court against Wetzel P. Perry, CRNA and River Cities Anesthesia PLLC, alleging they failed to provide proper and safe airway management during a lithotripsy procedure.

According to the complaint, Robert Pine alleges that on Dec. 5, 2016, the defendants provided anesthesia to Sharon Pine for a lithotripsy procedure, a treatment typically using ultrasound shock waves. As a result of the defendants' negligent acts and omissions, she became unresponsive and her pupils were fixed and dilated. She died on Dec. 8, 2015, after suffering from anoxic brain injury. Robert Pine suffered the loss of comfort, society and service of his wife. The plaintiff holds Wetzel P. Perry, CRNA and River Cities Anesthesia PLLC responsible because they allegedly negligently dislodged a endotracheal tube and unsuccessfully ventilated the decedent.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks all damages, with interest, costs and attorney's fees. He is represented by William M. Mundy of Mundy & Associates in Huntington.
