PRINCETON — Mercer County residents are suing skating rink operators, citing alleged negligence.

Zachary Calfee and April Triplett filed a complaint in Mercer Circuit Court against Bernard W. Gills Jr. and Green Valley Bowling Center LLC, alleging that they failed to properly maintain their skating rink.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Sept. 10, 2016, they were patrons at the defendants' Green Valley skating rink when Calfee encountered a defect on the floor, tripped and fell, breaking his tibia and fibula. He was required to undergo surgery and incurred medical expenses. Triplett has been deprived of her husband's consortium and services. The couple holds Bernard W. Gills Jr. and Green Valley Bowling Center LLC responsible because they allegedly negligently maintained the premises and allowed the defective condition to exist by covering it with a carpet.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against defendants, jointly and severally, for all damages, attorney's fees, costs, interest and such other proper and just relief. They are represented by Anthony R. Veneri of Veneri Law Offices in Princeton.
