Clark Hill issued the following announcement on Jan. 25.
Russell E. Cass, in Clark Hill’s Intellectual Property Practice Group, has been appointed to the position of Administrative Patent Judge on the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) of the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) in Alexandria Virginia. The PTAB is responsible for conducting inter parties review and post-grant review proceedings for issued patents and for deciding appeals from patentability decisions by Patent Examiners. Mr. Cass will be starting his new appointment on February 4, 2019.
Clark Hill PLC is proud that Mr. Cass has been appointed to the position of Administrative Patent Judge. The appointment is a reflection on both Mr. Cass and the firm’s national Intellectual Property Practice Group.

Mr. Cass has over 20 years of experience representing clients in a broad range of patent matters, and has extensive experience litigating patent infringement cases. He has a degree in Electrical Engineering, and has practiced extensively in the electrical and computer arts.
