MOUNDSVILLE — A Louisiana couple is suing Hidden Hollow Park LLC and Derek A. George, citing alleged negligence in an accident resulting in permanent injuries.

Victor Blake Smith and Rhonda Lee Smith filed a complaint against the recreational park operators in Marshall Circuit Court, alleging that defendant George recklessly operated a defective, faulty and/or hazardous equipment vehicle owned by the corporation. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiffs allege that on Feb. 23, 2018, Victor Smith was assisting defendant George welding a piece of metal to a Bobcat vehicle when he was struck by one or more metal fragments in the left eye. The suit states that Smith suffered severe and permanent injuries that required multiple surgeries and extensive medical treatment. Rhonda Smith suffered loss of marital consortium.

The plaintiffs hold Hidden Hollow Park LLC and Derek A. George responsible because defendant George allegedly negligently and improperly struck the round grinder wheel on the concrete floor causing it to spin at a very high speed and disintegrated and sprayed metal fragments throughout the area. The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek compensatory and punitive damages and an amount that is just and equitable. They are represented by Teena Y. Miller of Gold, Khourey & Turak LC in Moundsville.
