MORGANTOWN — A Pennsylvania couple is suing health care providers, citing alleged medical negligence.

Robert and Stephanie Hunter filed a complaint in Monongalia Circuit Court against Felix Brizuela DO and Felix Brizuela DO PLLC, alleging that they negligently deviated from the appropriate standard of care regularly practiced by well-qualified health care providers.

According to the complaint, the Hunters allege that as a result of the defendant's substandard treatment, Robert Hunter became immunosuppressed and has suffered infection, hospitalization, medical expenses and permanent injury, and had to endure medical treatment he did not need. Stephanie Hunter has been deprived of her husband's society, companionship and consortium.

The plaintiffs hold Felix Brizuela DO and Felix Brizuela DO PLLC responsible because they allegedly failed to order appropriate testing, failed to perform appropriate work-up and failed to provide medical treatment and medication to Robert Hunter that he needed.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek compensatory and punitive damages, and such other just and proper relief. They are represented by Tony L. O'Dell, William M. Tiano and Cheryl A. Fisher of Tiano O'Dell PLLC in Charleston.
