Family alleges nursing home negligence caused woman's suffering, eventual death

CHARLESTON — A woman was allegedly injured at a health care facility due to the negligence of the professionals there.

Rodney J. Martin as executor of the estate of Mary A. Martin filed a complaint in Kanawha Circuit Court against Sunbridge Dunbar Health Care LLC d/b/a Dunbar Center and Genesis Healthcare LLC.

According to the complaint, beginning on June 4, 2013, Ms. Martin was at the defendants' facility and was not given the appropriate care to prevent injures that eventually resulted in her death in December 2018.

The defendant is accused of negligence and wrongful death.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. He is represented by S. Andrew Stonestreet of Stewart Bell in Charleston.

The case has been assigned to Judge Tera L. Salango.
