Man seeks damages after he says ladder broke beneath him at work

CHARLESTON — A man is seeking damages from a former employer after a ladder reportedly broke under him at work.

Larry J. Shepard filed a complaint in Kanawha Circuit Court against Cornerstone Interiors Inc.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place when the plaintiff was working for the defendant. The suit states the plaintiff was on a ladder on Feb. 2, 2017 when it broke under him, causing him to fall against a table and injure his body.

The defendant is accused of deliberate intent.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by J. Kristofer Cormany in Charleston.

The case has been assigned to Judge Carrie Webster.
