Asseff Insurance is accused of terminating employee because of her epilepsy

CHARLESTON — A woman is suing her employer after she claims she was wrongfully terminated due to a medical condition.

Audrey Victoria Goad filed a complaint in Kanawha Circuit Court against Asseff Insurance Agency LC and Anthony Asseff.

The suit states that the plaintiff began to suffer from seizures during the course of her employment in July 2018. The plaintiff took two weeks off of work from December 2018 to January 2019, then claims she was terminated after returning from her medical leave.

The defendant is accused of wrongful termination, violation of the West Virginia Human Resources Act.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs and a trial by jury. The plaintiff is represented by Nathan Brown of Ferrell & Brown PLLC in Williamson.

The case has been assigned to Judge Louis Bloom.
