Woman claims she was fired by Genesis Healthcare after complaining of workplace sexual harassment

BECKLEY—A woman is suing a healthcare company, alleging that she was sexually harassed and then terminated after whistleblowing.

Karen Robertson filed a complaint in Raleigh Circuit Court against Genesis Healthcare LLC and Gerry Evans.

The suit states that the plaintiff was employed by the defendant at the Pine Lodge location in Beckley. The plaintiff was caused distress when she was sexually harassed by one of the representatives of the defendant. On July 13, 2017 the plaintiff was terminated from employment. The termination came after she reported the sexual harassment. The plaintiff believes that the termination was due to her complaints.

The defendant is accused of sexual harassment and wrongful discharge.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Anthony M. Salvatore of Hewitt & Salvatore in Fayetteville.

 

The case has been assigned to Judge Andrew Dimlich.
