Fireside Grille patron alleges uneven sidewalk caused fall

WINFIELD – A Hurricane woman alleges she was injured at a restaurant in the town because of an uneven sidewalk.

Mary Canfield filed a complaint in Putnam Circuit Court against RMJ Ventures LLC, doing business as Fireside Grille, alleging negligence.

The suit states that the plaintiff was at the defendant's facility at 439 state Route 34 in Hurricane on April 17, 2017, and was caused to trip and fall on an uneven portion of sidewalk and was injured. She alleges the defendant failed to warn of the danger or correct it.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by S. Brooks West II and David A. Dobson of West Law Firm LC in South Charleston and by Nathan J. Chill of Poca.

The case has been assigned to Judge Joseph Reeder.
