Former Rust-Oleum employee alleges chemical exposure at work caused injuries

HUNTINGTON – A Cabell County couple is suing the husband's employers and others over allegations exposure to chemicals caused him injury.

Michael D. Ruble and Brenda K. Ruble filed a complaint in Cabell Circuit Court against Rust-Oleum Corp., RPM International Inc., Zinsser Co. Inc., New Parks, E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Co., Akzo Nobel Inc., et al. alleging negligence and other counts.

The suit states that Michael Ruble was employed by Rust-Oleum, Zinsser and New Parks from 1996 to 2018 and was exposed to toxic chemicals at a chemical manufacturing facility in Lesage. The plaintiff claims that he developed sensory peripheral polyneuropathy, tremors, weakness of distal arms and legs, dermatitis and pneumonia. The plaintiffs allege his employers failed to provide adequate protection equipment.

The plaintiffs are seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. They are represented by R. Dean Hartley, Mark R. Staun and Tejinder Singh of Hartley Law Group PLLC in Wheeling.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Paul Farrell.
