CHARLESTON – A Putnam County woman alleges she is being subjected to a hostile work environment because of her race.

Stephanie Manns filed a complaint in Kanawha Circuit Court against Genesis Healthcare LLC, GHC Ancillary Corp., GHC Payroll LLC, et al. alleging employment discrimination.

The suit states that the plaintiff is a black woman who has been employed by the Genesis defendants from 2008 to present at the Putnam Center rehabilitation facility as a certified nurse assistant.

The plaintiff alleges she has been subjected to racial discrimination during her employment with the defendants, including verbal degradation, emotional abuse, deprivation of promotions and unequal raises in pay. She alleges the defendants are aware of the hostile work environment and have failed to take measures to correct it.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs, and a trial by jury. The plaintiff is represented by Michael J. Del Guidice of Ciccarello, Del Guidice & Lafon in Charleston.

The case has been assigned to Judge Louis H. Bloom.
