CHARLESTON – A Putnam County woman is suing her employers over allegations that she is unfairly discriminated against due to her race.

Faith Funderburk filed a complaint in Kanawha Circuit Court against Genesis Healthcare LLC, GHC Ancillary Corp., GHC Payroll LLC, et al. alleging employment discrimination.

The suit states that the plaintiff was employed by the Genesis defendants from 2013 to 2016 at the Putnam Center rehabilitation facility. The suit states she returned in 2017 as a certified nursing assistant.

The plaintiff alleges that during her employment, she has been subjected to verbal degradation, emotional abuse, deprivation of promotions and unequal raises in pay because of her African-American race. Allegedly despite knowing about the hostile work environment, the defendants failed to make changes.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs and a trial by jury. The plaintiff is represented by Michael J. Del Guidice of Ciccarello, Del Guidice & Lafon in Charleston.
