Former inmate alleges he was not provided medical care after beating at Huttonsville Correctional Center

CHARLESTON – A man alleges he was injured in a beating by another inmate while an inmate of the Huttonsville Correctional Center and did not receive medical attention.

Joseph D. Rayhill II filed a complaint in Kanawha Circuit Court against Wexford Health Sources Inc. and/or John/Jane Doe alleging cruel and unusual punishment and other counts.

The suit states that the plaintiff was beaten by another inmate at the Huttonsville Correctional Center and sustained a broken orbital bone and maxillary sinus. He alleges the defendants failed to provide medical care despite his reporting of the incident and medical issues.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Paul M. Stroebel of Stroebel & Johnson PLLC in Charleston.

The case has been assigned to Judge Tod Kaufman.
