BECKLEY – A Raleigh County woman alleges an unsecured bed caused her to fall and fracture a bone in her leg.

Carol McGrady filed a complaint in Raleigh Circuit Court against Raleigh General Hospital and John Doe alleging premises liability and medical negligence.

The suit states that the plaintiff was admitted to the defendant's hospital on April 17, 2018, for cellulitis in her leg and was discharged and transferred to a rehab center on April 21, 2018.

While at the defendant's hospital, the plaintiff alleges she was injured when the bed she was placed on by Doe rolled out from under her and caused her to fall, resulting in a tibia fracture.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants negligently failed to property maintain or secure the bed.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Paul M. Stroebel of Stroebel & Johnson PLLC in Charleston.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Robert Burnside Jr.
