PRINCETON – A Virginia truck driver is suing another truck driver and his Athens employer over a collision that occurred at a Princeton intersection.

Demetrius Jackson filed a complaint in Mercer Circuit Court against John Robert Alvis, Michael Norman and Mikies Trucking alleging negligence.

The suit states that the plaintiff was driving a Freightliner tractor-trailer on June 6, 2017, near the intersection of U.S. Route 460 and Greasy Ridge Road in Princeton. The suit states Alvis was operating a Peterbilt tractor-trailer owned by Norman and Mikies Trucking in the same lane and negligently failed to stop in time for a traffic signal and rear-ended the plaintiff's vehicle.

The plaintiff alleges Alvis failed to maintain control of his vehicle.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Sandra B. Harrah of Hill, Peterson, Carper, Bee & Deitzler PLLC in Charleston.

The case has been assigned to Judge Derek Swope.
