Dollar General shopper blames allegedly unsecured mat for fall

WINFIELD – A shopper at the Dollar General in Poca alleges she injured her head in a fall caused by an unsecured mat.

Sharon Wiles filed a complaint in Putnam Circuit Court against DolgenCorp LLC alleging negligence.

The suit states that the plaintiff was shopping at the Dollar General in Poca on June 12, 2017, and tripped and fell because of a mat when attempting to return her shopping cart. She alleges she fell directly on her head and was severely injured. She alleges her injuries could have been avoided had the defendant secured the mat.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by David M. Adkins of The Adkins Law Firm PLLC in Hurricane.

The case has been assigned to Judge Phillip Stowers.
